Types of Rental Spaces Explained

Booth vs. suite vs. chair vs. room vs. full salon: what each means.

Rental Space Types

Not sure what the difference is between a booth, a suite, and a chair? Here's a breakdown of each type of rental space you'll find on Salon Renter.

Salon Suite

A suite is a private, self-contained room within a larger salon building. You typically get your own space with a door, and sometimes your own sink, storage, and climate control. Suites offer the most privacy and independence.

Best for: Professionals who want to run their own mini-business with full control over the environment, music, and client experience.

Price range: Generally the highest, but you're paying for privacy and autonomy.

Booth Rental

A booth is a designated workspace within a larger salon. You share the common areas (reception, break room, etc.) with other professionals. Your booth area is yours, but it's in an open or semi-open layout.

Best for: Professionals who want lower overhead and enjoy the energy of working around other stylists.

Price range: Mid-range. More affordable than suites, with the trade-off being less privacy.

Chair Rental

A chair is the most basic rental unit. You're renting a single styling station (chair and mirror) in a shared salon environment. Everything else is communal.

Best for: Newer professionals or those who want the lowest possible overhead to get started.

Price range: Typically the most affordable option.

Room Rental

A room is similar to a suite but may not include a sink or some of the amenities a full suite offers. It's a private or semi-private space, often used for services like lash extensions, esthetics, or massage.

Best for: Estheticians, lash artists, massage therapists, and other professionals who need a private room for their services.

Price range: Varies widely depending on the size and amenities included.

Full Salon

A full salon listing means the entire salon space is available for rent. This could mean the current owner is looking for someone to take over the lease, or the building owner is looking for a salon tenant.

Best for: Experienced professionals or business owners ready to operate an entire salon.

Price range: The highest cost, but you get the entire space.

How to Decide

Think about where you are in your career, your budget, and how much independence you want. If you're just starting out, a chair or booth is a great low-risk way to build your clientele. If you're established and want full control, a suite or full salon gives you that freedom.
